"Perfection is Overrated"

This popular lecture is a lively and amusing presentation of my quiltmaking journey, from myfirst frighteningly awful attempt at self taught quilting to eventually founding EvaPaige Quilt Designs and how my patterns go from an abstract idea for a design into actual fabric. Included are thoughts on the design process as it unfolds in 20 minute increments in the midst of the chaos of running a home and raising three small children, how a quilt can be a thing of beauty even without matching seams and perfect points, and the many joys of bringing my designs to the masses and discovering that they often can become converts to the freeing idea that “perfection is overrated”. Lots of quilts, no slides.

"Plays Well With Others"

Quilting is a very social hobby, although for the most part quilters create their own individual masterpieces. Adding more quilters into a project changes the scope immensely, and it's a joy of quiltmaking that I love to share. This lecture focuses on group quiltmaking beyond your basic round robin, including several examples of group quilt projects I have organized on line through my website and blog. To go along with this lecture, I have developed a workshop entitled "Round Robin in a Day", wherein participants work on three other quilts in a six hour period to create a finished quilt top for every participant. For more information on this unique class concept, visit the workshops section of my website.

I am happy to offer a discount to guild who book me for both a lecture and a workshop within six months of each other. Please ask for details.

"Laughter raises the endorphins and mine are way up there - probably won't sleep for weeks. HOOT! HOOT!" Cath H., lecture attendee

"Such fun and beautiful quilts...except for the first one...lol!" Karen B., lecture attendee

"I took a class with Beth Helfter as the teacher. She was friendly, fun, and knowledgeable. She made you feel as if there were no question that was too stupid to ask, and she was genuinely interested in the questions and comments made. The classroom had a positive atmosphere with lots of laughter and learning. I wouldn't hesitate to take another class from Beth. A+ teacher!" Joanna M, Workshop Participant, at Round Robin in a Day Workshop (Nashua, NH)

"Participants can't help but "catch" Beth's love of quilting. Her knowledge and enthusiasm make her classes and lectures a pleasure to attend." Nancy C, Lecture Attendee, Hannah Dustin Quilt Guild (Hudson, NH)

"I met Beth in a quilt shop where I was teaching a class. Her enthusiasm for her projects was infectious and I was immediately drawn to her emphasis on "fun over fuss." I have since made several projects with Beth's instructions, including a group project she did online. I have found the instructions to be well written and easy to use; the fact that Beth loves what she is doing is apparent in every word!" Martha L., Quilting Instructor, Mt. Pleasant Quilt Shop (York, NY)
